So now we bring you, once a week, Pressing Matters – a brief rundown of what’s going on at Candlemark & Gleam, in terms of behind-the-scenes action. You’ll get to look at the glamorous lives of a bunch of overworked, highly underpaid publishing professionals, running around like meth-addled chipmunks as they try to get everything done. Doesn’t that sound like fun?

Pressing Matters: Week of October 1, 2012

Editing

1. Editing a new manuscript from Green Light Delivery author Anne E. Johnson, a sequel to that novel. Progress continues apace, with suitable breaks for laughing too hard to breathe.
2. Just received the sequel to Debris Dreams by David Colby. Can’t wait to start reading/editing.
3. Sent out revisions (again; I’m really hammering the author on this one) on The Daughter Star, first in a new series by Extrahumans author Susan Jane Bigelow.
4. Going through rewrites on Gayleen Froese’s The Dominion; we’re about ready to figure out bonuses and publication date for that!

Production

1. Setting up the final eBook version of Mr Blank by Justin Robinson for its October 23 debut.
2. Working on the galley copies – print and digital – of The Other Half of the Sky anthology.
3. Finishing up the back cover on the Substitution Cipher anthology
4. Substitution Cipher is getting proofread. With the help of cats, apparently.
5. Ordering the first print batch of Mr Blank now that the proof has finally arrived!

Promotions

1. We’ve got one final, massive stretch goal for pre-orders of Mr Blank – if we hit $3k by the end of the drive (in less than a week), there will be handmade plushie chupacabras. Stuffed chupacabras, people! GET ON THAT.
2. We’re booking out a blog tour for the release of Mr Blank, too. We’ve got several stops already – which we’ll let you know about soon – but we’re looking for more. Are you interested in hosting a stop? Know a blogger who might be? Let us know!
3. We’re also booking out blog tours for Matchbox Girls and Hickey of the Beast, complete with interviews and giveaways. More info as it comes!
4. We’re getting ready to open up Debris Dreams pre-orders. Stay tuned…
