On June 11, 2018, Candlemark & Gleam will release Kelly Jennings’ riveting space opera Fault Lines, an extension of her story “Velocity’s Ghost” (included in The Other Half of the Sky, 2013). Both Publishers Weekly and SF legend Gwyneth Jones had words of high praise for this non-clichéd space opera, and the work boasts a remarkable cover by Ciaran Gaffney. [ETA: Fault Lines also received high praise from Booklist and from Tansy Rayner Roberts in Galactic Suburbia Episode 186, from 56:32 to 1:00:16.]
This tense tale of adventure and conflict will be irresistible to readers of Melissa Scott, Aliette de Bodard and C. J. Cherryh. Exploring the issues of genetic engineering as they play into interstellar power politics, rife with complex and shifting alliances, with flawed, vivid protagonists for whom the reader comes to care deeply, Fault Lines is Firefly meets GATTACA with a soupçon of Hunger Games.
Because GoodReads giveaways are no longer free and our coffers are of the usual size for indie micro-presses, we will be doing a direct giveaway for Fault Lines. You can enter it by leaving a comment to this post or by sending an email (with subject line “Fault Lines Giveaway”) to our website address. Please rest assured that your email will only be visible to the site admin. The giveaway will run from May 14 to June 10, and random winners will be picked to receive a maximum of three print copies of the novel. For up to 200 requests, there will be one award copy. For up to 400 requests, two copies; and beyond that, three copies. We will contact the winners to request addresses when the giveaway is completed.
We can hardly wait to share this remarkable work with the world!
Note added on June 11: the giveaway is now closed. We’ll pick winners and contact them within this week.
Sounds amazing!
It is! (she says objectively)
I can’t wait!
Same here!
It sounds interesting. I had Jennings for Fiction workshop and a literature class about works involving zombies, vampires, apocalyptic worlds at UAFS. So reading about how exactly she applies her beliefs about those topics in her own book sounds like fun.
How cool!
Ana, such comparisons always give insights.
Carol, agreed!
Dr. Jennings is the bomb and her book will be, too. Looking forward to it. 🙂
I’m so excited for this book!
Sounds wonderful!
Wanna read!
I would love to read this book!
I do like some Melissa Scott…interested!
