Those who’ve read Melissa Scott’s Finders have undoubtedly sussed out that, besides its remarkable novelistic attributes, it would also make a rousing movie: orbiting ruins and half-forgotten technologies, dangerous AIs and god-like shapers, whispers of immortality and madness, complex and shifting allegiances and alliances.
The Finders Hollywood pitch might be “Prometheus and the Titans in the Firefly/Serenity universe with a soupçon of Babylon 5.” To celebrate Liz Bourke’s terrific Locus review of Finders that just emerged from the paywall, below is my dream cast for Finders. And who knows? Perhaps this may yet come to pass – and if it does, it will be interesting to compare the real-world outcome with my woolgathering.
