Candlemark & Gleam readers first met Nick Moss – WWII veteran, Night War survivor, member of the dwindling human cohort, hard-bitten private eye – in Justin Robinson’s neo-noir comédie fantastique City of Devils and renewed their acquaintance with Nick’s dangerous, fascinating world in Fifty Feet of Trouble and Wolfman Confidential.
In Wolfman Confidential we met a compelling newcomer: Jane Stitch, a tortured yet spirited meat golem who becomes Nick’s love. Jane takes center stage in A Stitch in Crime, Justin’s fourth foray into his universe of pulp monsters; and Kate Sullivan has created an eloquent visual distillation of Jane’s inner and outer landscape with a cover that also pays tribute to City of Devils, the first work in the series.
About the novel:
Assembled from the corpses of six women, Jane Stitch is haunted by impulses she can’t control and memories that aren’t hers.
When she returns to her hometown to solve the mystery of her creation, she finds herself drawn unwillingly into a war between rival gangs of monsters for control over the patch of desert she once called home. Her creator, the only one who knows where she came from, has an agenda of his own and it doesn’t include helping Jane put to rest the ghosts of her past lives.
In the desert, among thundering herds of giant ants, in the shadow of a frozen blob, Jane is determined to solve the riddle of herself. Or die trying.
Launch date:
A Stitch in Crime will appear on everyone’s big sky horizon on March 16, 2020. Mark your calendars and keep a firm grip on your giant ant prods!
